Pipe Fitter

Our client has a rare and unique opportunity to work on critical maritime projects, contributing to the maintenance of both commercial and Navy vessels at Garden Island. All this, and undoubtedly, some of the best views in the world!

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipe Fitters for permanent full time roles, based at Garden Island in Wooloomooloo.

• Read and interpret shop drawings
• GMAW, GTAW and SMAW welding process
• Weld all types of metal, ferrous and nonferrous
• Working in confined spaces and on elevated work platform equipment

You will be required to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance. Due to security clearance requirements, you must hold Australian Citizenship.

Essential requirements for this role include:

• Trade certificate in Engineering or similar
• White Card
• RIIWHS204E - Work Safely at Heights
• RIIWHS202E - Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

Minimum Experience

• Experience with GMAW (MIG), FCAW, MMAW (Stick) or GTAW (TIG) welding processes
• Experience within ship building/repair industry preferable or alternatively other heavy engineering fields eg. Mining, Marine, Power Stations, Gas Lines or Bridges

In addition, the following experience and licenses will be highly regarded

• AS 1796 Certificates 1 to 9 and/or Trade Qualifications in Engineering or similar
• Experience with GTAW (TIG) welding of copper and aluminium alloys and / or pipe brazing
• Demonstrated experience in pipe welding, pipe work and valve fitting
• Defence or marine industry experience
• Experience using written welding procedures procedure to AS, ASME IX or ISO standard
• Any additional High Risk Work certifications
